Crescent Clinic is a private psychiatric clinic registered with the provincial Department of Social Development, which means its meets certain criteria in terms of treatment and centre management.

Their trained careworkers provide assistance to family’s and patients in need of home care. They are a registered practice that was opened in 2000 to provide affordable home care nursing to the terminally ill and frail.
They also train strong people to care for the aged, frail, terminal and post hospital patients. Things like helping with bedbaths and bath chairs, and helping with wheelchairs, taking of vital signs, assessing a wound, how to work with physiotherapists, how to communicate and stimulate the patient are all important things they are taught.
Basic first aid is also taught to enable the caregiver to act calmly in an emergency, before calling in paramedics. They are members of the Society for Private Nurse Practioners and call on them to attend to nursing procedures that are not in the scope of practice for a care worker.

They were founded in 1986 to care for terminally ill patients. They offer a comprehensive palliative care service for persons living with terminal illnesses such as Cancer, Neurological Disorders and HIV/AIDS.
If there is a situation that requires additional 24-hour continuous nursing care to maintain the patient at home, they network with local nursing agencies to facilitate this.
Their in-patient Unit at Helderberg Hospice is a facility offering 24 hour nursing care and is used primarily as back up for the home care service. They provide excellent care and make the patients and families feel at home.
Their home care service is delivered by palliative care trained professional nurses with the backup of the social work department and volunteers. A member of the hospice team makes regular visits to assess the patient’s condition and provide additional care or other services.
