They are a professional organisation, dedicated to enhancing the professionalism of operating theatre nurses. They believe that every patient has the right to the highest standard of care, according to their needs, and a highly qualified and skilled registered nurse practitioner assists the surgeon during a surgical intervention.
SATS is a non-profitable organisation. Membership of SATS is open to all nursing staff registered with the South African Nursing Council and those involved in peri-operative nursing and holders of a Diploma in Operating Theatre Nursing Science.
